It's time to end subminimum wage for people with disabilities!
Make Your Voice Heard Today!
Did you know there’s a law that allows workers with disabilities to be paid a fraction of the minimum wage? Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act allows employers with a 14(c) certificate to pay wages below minimum wage to employees whose productivity may be impacted by a physical, developmental, cognitive, mental or age-related disability, based on arbitrary productivity tests. This is a critical civil rights issue.
The Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act would permanently phase out this practice, modernizing America’s disability policy, and ensuring all Americans with disabilities are paid at least the minimum wage for their work.
We need YOU to write to your legislators today and ask them to support this bill, demanding the dignity of meaningful work and the end of the subminimum wage for disabled workers!
